A splendid production consisting of a 200-page color book on one side and 8 CDs on the other! The composers known collectively as the Fiamminghi made their mark in Europe during the 15th century. This collection is devoted to the leading composers, from those of the first generation and the great master Johannes Ockeghem, to Josquin Desprez and Pierre de La Rue, two musicians taught by Ockeghem who laid the foundations of the Ars Perfecta during the Renaissance. Also included is Jacob Obrecht, the only composer of this school whose career was based essentially in his native Flanders. Every genre of sacred and secular music of the time is represented here.

Despite its small format and unadorned appearance, Manuscript Q.11 of the Museo della Musica in Bologna constitutes an important legacy of medieval culture; it is one of a very limited number of sources of monodic and polyphonic music for female voices that are known to us in Europe, and the only one in Italy. The manuscript comprises 26 sheets, whose content was written between the end of the 13th century and the start of the 14th.

The archive of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aránzazu at Oñate is one of the most outstanding centers for the study of sacred music from the 16th–19th centuries. A good portion of the works recorded here date from the 18th century, when the chapel reached its maximum splendor under the guidance of such outstanding composers as Fray Agustín de Echeverria, Fray Domingo de Aguirre, and Fray Juan Baustista de Tellería.

The rich cultural heritage of the Moors, who invaded Spain in the 700s and brought with them a rich culture of music and poetry, was at its height in the 12th and 13th centuries.
