BACH: Viola da Gamba Sonatas Nos. 1–3 • Excerpts from Cantatas Nos. 175 & 183 “Prestigious … magnificent … masterful.” — Le Dauphiné Libéré This recording by Audrey and Paul Cienniwa reveals that Bach’s viola da gamba sonatas can certainly be played on the cello piccolo with grace and beauty. The Cienniwas began playing as a duo in 1998 after meeting in Brussels. Since then, they have performed throughout New England and France. As specialists in historical performance, their repertoire includes masterworks of the baroque and pre-classical periods.
