John Coltrane, Tom Harrell, and Frank Foster.
Jim Ketch is Director of Jazz Studies at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and a trumpet artist for the Conn-Selmer Corporation. He has
performed or conducted in England, France, Switzerland, and the Netherlands,
as well as at Carnegie Hall. His professional big band, the North Carolina
Jazz Repertory Orchestra, has released three CD recordings and two video
productions (including Ellington’s Concert of Sacred Music) for public television.
Ketch has appeared with an extensive list of popular and jazz artists including
The Temptations, The Four Tops, Ben E. King, Natalie Cole, The
Manhattan Transfer, Marcus Roberts Trio, Gene Krupa Orchestra,
Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Tom Harrell, Byron Stripling, and many others.
