 Easily the most successful film adaptation of a Daphne Du Maurier story, Don't Look Now is both a chilling horror film and a fascinating portrait of grief. Laura Baxter (Julie Christie) and her husband John (Donald Sutherland) are the parents of a young girl who dies by drowning. In a labyrinthine Venice, John and his wife follow different paths of worship: he helps to rebuild crumbling churches while she ponders the death of their daughter. Pino Donaggio, a Venetian composer, made his film-scoring debut with Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now. He has written the music for over 130 film and TV projects—yet in English speaking territories he remains little known beyond his collaborations with Brian De Palma, the vast majority of his work being for Italian films.
