Alula is proud to present the first international release from an exciting young band from Zimbabwe, sure to make an impact with an exhilarating brand of new music they have named “Qaya Music,” a fusion of many genres heavily infused with the sounds of their African homeland. Since 1998, the group has worked with superstar Ringo both in South Africa and Zimbabwe, and has collaborated with the great Oliver Mtukudzi. Two charismatic young musicians, Willis Wataffi and Mehluli Moyo (better known as “Tazz”) front Qaya Music. Willis and Tazz don’t call their group a “band”; rather, they refer to the musicians they have gathered around them as a “lifestyle.” The music is an eclectic pan-African listening experience, featuring instrumentalists who hail from a wide variety of disparate cultures across Southern Africa and fronted by the stirring duo vocals of Willis and Tazz.
