Schumann (Op. 48)

A special production featuring German actress Barbara Sukowa, who sings and performs the new song cycle adapted and re-composed for orchestra by Reinbert de Leeuw for the Schönberg Ensemble. Sukowa and de Leeuw have been a very successful team for twenty years, having performed, among others, Arnold Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire.

Im wunderschönen Monat Mai is a journey down a memory lane full of restless love and the powers of destiny, and is the first movement of the Dichterliebe (The Poet’s Love), the best-known song cycle of Robert Schumann (Op. 48).

Radiohead

Radiohead’s live performance in Germany in June 2001 was a masterpiece of aural symmetry. Beginning with the National Anthem, the band gave the audience nearly two hours of otherworldly experimentation in electronic rock. Filmed at the peak of their popularity, the concert conjures moods of loss and alienation in the modern world.
