Written, recorded, and released just as Brazil’s military dictatorship reached the climax of its long black arc, the Satwa album is a divinely subtle protest, often cited as Brazil’s first independent record. Formed after the return of Lula Côrtes and Lailson from their respective foreign excursions, the ‘Satwa’ project lasted only a year, perhaps due to their differing stripes. The music is a succession of ragas and mantras powered by incense, magic mushrooms, and other “mental muscle expanders,” recorded live at the Rozenblit Studios, Recife, January 20–31, 1973. Fabricas de Discos Rozenblit was founded by José Rozenblit in 1954 in Pernambuco (northeast Brazil). In addition to a record label, the operation boasted the first-ever vinyl pressing plant in the state, a super-modern factory, and a studio capable of recording a full symphonic orchestra. By working closely with the Rozenblit archives and collectors in Brazil, Mr Bongo aims to re-master archive tapes and reproduce vinyl pressings to their original specifications or better.

THE PIGEON FINDS A HOT DOG

Scholastic once again steps into the world of children's book author Mo Williams for three exciting new animated features based on his stories. The first marks the return of Pigeon, who happens upon a delicious hot dog that the vendor lost. Just as he's about to eat it, inquisitive Duckling questions Pigeon about what a hot dog tastes like. After some hijinks and humorous banter, the pair gets a lesson in sharing. Next, in the second "Knuffle Bunny" feature, Trixie is excited to show off her Knuffle Bunny at school, though gets a surprise when a classmate happens to have a Knuffle Bunny too! Can the two girls mend their differences and become friends? Finally, we meet Wilbur - a naked mole rat. Except, he likes to wear clothes, which befuddles his fellow mole rats. It's up to Wilbur to teach them otherwise. The DVD also includes a behind the scenes look at the career and inspirations of Williams and the process of animating the books.
