Bebey Price Bissongo grew up to the sounds of his native Burkina Faso, to which he now adds his own influences including touches of jazz, blues, rock, and funk. With this album, recorded in concert at the Amphi’Opéra in Lyon, he shows himself to be the worthy heir of his father, “L’Empereur Bissongo,” one of the most famous Burkinabé musicians of the 1970s.

Since 2001, two groups have been working together at revisiting the music of Southern Iran, which itself stems from age-old cultural exchanges between Eastern Africa, Arabia and Persia. One is the Shanbehzadeh Ensemble—Saeid & Naghib Shanbehzadeh with Habib Meftaboushehri—three Iranian musicians who celebrate tradition and champion the right of peoples to express their culture. As for Matthieu Donarier, Manu Codjia, and Joe Quitzke, they are amongst the most active, daring, and inventive musicians on the French jazz scene!
